Richard D. Kim, MD, is Associate Professor in the Department of Oncologic Sciences at the University of South Florida Morsani College of Medicine and Associate Member in the Department of Gastrointestinal Oncology at the H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center & Research Institute in Tampa, Florida. He earned his medical degree at the University of Miami School of Medicine in Florida, followed by a residency in Internal Medicine at the University of Illinois at Chicago and a fellowship in Hematology and Medical Oncology at Yale University Comprehensive Cancer Center in New Haven, Connecticut. He is board-certified in Internal Medicine, Medical Oncology, and Hematology.
Dr. Kim's clinical and research interests focus on gastrointestinal tumors, in particular hepatobiliary and colon cancer. He is a Principal Investigator in multiple investigator-initiated and pharmaceutical phase I, II, and Ill trials using novel targeted agents.
Dr. Kim has authored articles in many journals and written several book chapters. He has been an ad hoc editorial reviewer for multiple professional journals, including the Journal of Clinical Oncology, Cancer, and The Lancet Oncology.
Dr. Kim was named 2008 Teacher of the Year at the Cleveland Clinic and selected for the 2008 Southwest Oncology Group Young Investigator Program. In 2013, he was awarded Junior Faculty Research Award at H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center.
